As a business we know that we all get immersed in our day to day lives and it’s easy to forget about those less fortunate than ourselves.
So at the beginning of 2018, as a team we identified two charities – The Christie and Francis House Children’s Hospice – that are very close to our hearts for numerous reasons and supported them in any way we could throughout the year. This included our very own calendar of events, which we had a great deal of fun getting involved with, but we’ve also challenged ourselves with some of us stepping outside our comfort zones.
Our calendar of fundraising events kicked off in March with our dress down day and we followed this up in April with the Great Mansell Bake Off with many of the team surprising us with their culinary skills! Then in May we had a team of runners taking part in the Manchester 10k, some of whom had never even run before.
In June we embraced the 2018 Football World Cup by running a sweepstake on the winning team which we launched at our annual BBQ. Also in June some of our team attended the first ever Francis House Summer Ladies Lunch which was a great success.
In August a team of us took part in a 5k Tough Mudder (pictured). While the weather was kind to us, it was a tough day but we all really enjoyed the challenge! In September some of us attended the Francis House Golf Day and then in November we held a coffee morning and raffle.
Then finally for 2018 we held our Silly Christmas Jumpers Day, an annual event, in early December along with a visit to the Manchester Christmas Markets.
Angela Mansell, Operations Director at Mansell Finishes comments: “As a company we all felt it important to give back in any way we could, and I was delighted by the way that everyone embraced our calendar of events and got involved. Due to the success in 2018 we’re already planning a very busy 2019 and hope to raise even more funds for two very worthy causes.”
