Smith returns to Mansell to take up senior commercial role

Jonathan Smith (29) has returned to the Mansell Finishes team as Commercial Manager in what is his second stint at the company.

Reporting to Mike Foy, Commercial Director, Jonathan is responsible for all commercial aspects of off-site and on-site projects secured and delivered by the company including reviewing and managing all contractual obligations.

With a degree in Quantity Surveying from Liverpool John Moores University, he brings expert knowledge and experience to the role and has been brought back on board following a significant rise in demand for the company’s off-site framing and on-site finishing contract wins.

Joining Mansell Finishes straight from university as Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Jonathan’s first period at the company lasted three years and, in this time, he built up considerable estimating and QS experience. He then left to join main contractor Russells Construction as Quantity Surveyor where he acted Project QS on numerous new build and refurbishment schemes.

His experience with tender enquiries, specifications, drawings, checklists and programme information pricing means that he is best placed to ensure that the commercial aspects of projects are optimised for both Mansell Finishes and the company’s main contractor clients alike.

His key responsibilities include quantifying the materials required on each project, reviewing all costs within the contract and ensuring that all works are covered under the sub-contract to ensure there are no surprises for either party during the build.

Originally from Altrincham where he studied at Altrincham Grammar School, Jonathan now lives in Lymm and is an enthusiastic supporter of Manchester United, although admits that this is not a particularly enjoyable pastime at the moment!

Commenting on Jonathan’s appointment, Mike Foy, Commercial Director at Mansell Finishes says: “We’re delighted to bring Jonathan back on board. During his first stint with us his knowledge and enthusiasm proved a great asset and now with four years of experience under his belt obtained at Russells Construction, he’ll bring a great deal of experience and value to the role of Commercial Manager. I’m looking forward to working closely with him and I’m sure we can learn from each other.”
